Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made independently. Advertisers and commercial partners do not control editorial conclusions.

Editorial staff should not promise positive coverage, favorable rankings or preferential treatment in exchange for payment or another benefit. Access to a source, company, institution or commercial relationship does not replace editorial judgment about what is relevant, accurate or appropriate to publish.

Accuracy and Context

Facts should be checked against appropriate sources. Names, dates, statistics, quotations and material factual claims should be verified where reasonably possible.

Headlines should reflect the evidence and should not create certainty that the underlying reporting does not support. Context should also be sufficient to prevent a technically accurate statement from becoming misleading through omission of material circumstances.

Fairness

• Sources should not be deliberately misrepresented or quoted in a way that changes the substance of their position;
• Disputed claims should receive appropriate context so readers can understand what is known, alleged or contested;
• Allegations should be distinguished from established facts;
• Unnecessary harm and sensationalism should be avoided where they do not improve understanding of the story;
• Relevant responses should be considered when serious allegations are made about identifiable people, companies or institutions.

Conflicts of Interest

Editors and contributors should disclose relevant financial, commercial or personal conflicts.

Contributors should not knowingly cover organizations in which they hold undisclosed material interests. A relationship that could reasonably affect a reader's assessment of editorial independence should not be concealed merely because it does not determine every part of the article.

Sourcing

Named sources and primary documentation are preferred. Anonymous sourcing is rare and subject to the Unnamed Sources Policy.

The authority of a source depends on its relevance, access to the information and supporting evidence. Official status, institutional affiliation or professional prominence does not automatically make every statement independently verified.

Advertising and Sponsored Content

Advertising is planned but separated from editorial decision-making.

Sponsored content is not currently an active standard format. If introduced, it should be clearly labeled so readers can distinguish commercial material from independent editorial coverage.

Rankings

Rankings should follow an appropriate methodology and distinguish the basis of comparison from commercial relationships.

Paid visibility does not determine editorial ranking position.

Images, Data and AI

Images, charts and data should not materially mislead readers about what happened, what was measured or what the underlying source supports.

AI-generated imagery may be used for illustration but must not be presented falsely as documentary evidence. AI must not fabricate sources, quotes, people, events or credentials.

Corrections

Verified factual errors may be corrected. Concerns can be sent to corrections@maghrebinsider.com. Correction decisions should be based on the evidence supporting the challenge rather than the status or commercial importance of the person or organization making it.
