The planned Forbes International Tower in Egypt's New Administrative Capital aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 and secure LEED Platinum certification, positioning the project as a regional model for sustainable urban development.
The Forbes International Tower, a high-profile development planned for Egypt's New Administrative Capital, is targeting net-zero carbon emissions by 2030 and seeking LEED Platinum green-building certification, according to the Ministry of Local Development and Environment. The project is being positioned as a benchmark for sustainable construction in the region.
Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad met with Forbes Global Group CEO Michael Gilbert and Magnum Properties CEO Maged Marie to review the project's environmental requirements and sustainability strategies. The discussions focused on ensuring the tower's compliance with Egyptian environmental regulations while integrating international best practices for green buildings.
Decarbonisation and Resource Efficiency at the Core
Company representatives stated that the tower will pursue a range of decarbonisation measures to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2030. The project aims to combine architectural innovation, smart infrastructure, clean energy, and resource-efficient operations. Key areas under review include energy and water efficiency, emissions reduction, and advanced resource management throughout both construction and operational phases. The ministry also confirmed that clean hydrogen solutions are being explored as part of the resource-efficiency strategy.
Strategic Significance for Egypt's Investment and Sustainability Agenda
Minister Awad emphasised that technical coordination between the ministry and the developer will continue to ensure the project meets both national and international environmental standards. She highlighted the importance of addressing sustainability beyond energy and carbon, including water use and the adoption of innovative technologies in design and operation.
Forbes Global Group CEO Michael Gilbert noted that the tower could serve as a platform to showcase Egypt's investment opportunities in sustainable real estate to international audiences. Magnum Properties CEO Maged Marie described the project as an integrated model for sustainable urban development, combining investment, innovation, energy efficiency, and adherence to global environmental standards.
The ministry stated that supporting such developments aligns with Egypt's broader efforts to attract private-sector investment in projects that deliver both economic and climate benefits, while reinforcing the New Administrative Capital's role as a regional business and investment hub.
