FiveNines Group will coordinate early design and procurement planning for a proposed 20 MW AI data centre near Casablanca. The project has been linked to a US$1.2 billion investment, but reports give conflicting total capacities of 180 MW and 500 MW; financing, permits and construction remain unconfirmed.

No permits or construction start have been confirmed for the proposed 20 MW AI data centre near Casablanca. FiveNines Group has been appointed to lead early design and delivery planning for the facility, part of the wider Nexus AI Factory project.

The project has been associated with a US$1.2 billion investment, but that figure is a reported target, not confirmed spending or secured financing. The planned capacity of the wider project is also unsettled. An original announcement cited a 500 MW full buildout, while EIN Presswire reported a 180 MW target. Nexus Core Systems or Moroccan authorities have yet to clarify the gap.

The 20 MW facility is planned for high-density AI workloads. EIN Presswire says its design will use NVIDIA's Vera Rubin NVL72 Cloud Partner Reference architecture. That is a proposed technical design, not computing capacity already in place.

Nexus Core Systems presented the project in April 2026 at GITEX Africa Morocco in Marrakech. The presentation followed a memorandum of understanding with Morocco's Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, the Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE). The agreement sets out a framework for engagement; it does not confirm permits, construction or investment payments. AMDIE describes its institutional role on its official agency website.

The rollout has been described as a phased plan through 2027: an initial 16 MW phase, followed by a 20 MW addition. Those figures do not settle whether the full project is meant to reach 180 MW or 500 MW. Available accounts provide no reconciled capacity schedule. Earlier coverage of the factory also cited the 500 MW ambition, which remains a reported target rather than a verified final capacity.

The project is meant to run entirely on renewable energy, and TAQA Morocco has been named in connection with the planned supply. But available reporting does not confirm a power-purchase agreement or spell out contracted volumes, delivery dates or the renewable generation assets that would supply the facility. Without those details, the project's energy needs and expected contribution to Morocco's digital infrastructure remain unclear.

FiveNines will handle briefing, feasibility, design strategy, concept design, consultant coordination, procurement planning, technical governance and constructability. The work is intended to produce coordinated documents for discussions with authorities and permit applications. No permit approval or construction start has been reported.

FiveNines Group CEO Gerry Curran was reported to have stressed the planned use of international data-centre experience alongside Moroccan architects, engineers and advisers. Nexus Head of Infrastructure Bastian Remmlinger was also reported to describe FiveNines as supporting the project's design and delivery approach. Neither statement sets a construction timetable.

Morocco's digital-transition and investment institutions are part of the project's stated public-sector engagement. MAP's coverage offers a regional news-agency account of developments in the country. The memorandum and agency involvement are not the same as regulatory approvals or signed commercial agreements.

FiveNines has been appointed for early planning, but the available reporting confirms neither the project's final capacity nor secured financing, permits or a power agreement. The proposed facility has not been confirmed as under construction.
