The Crédit populaire d'Algérie (CPA) has introduced a new financing offer for collective transport operators, aiming to accelerate the replacement of buses over 25 years old and support the modernisation of Algeria's public transport sector.

The Crédit populaire d'Algérie (CPA) has unveiled a new financing programme targeting professionals in the collective passenger transport sector. The initiative is designed to support the renewal of Algeria's national bus fleet, much of which is over 25 years old, in line with government efforts to modernise public transport infrastructure.

According to CPA, the scheme is open to both individuals and legal entities operating legally in the collective transport sector. Eligible operators can access financing to purchase new vehicles from approved suppliers, with the goal of upgrading their fleets and contributing to the broader national renewal programme.

Key Terms: Up to 90% Financing and Extended Repayment

Under the terms announced by CPA, the bank can finance up to 90% of the total purchase price (including taxes) of a new bus, requiring a minimum personal contribution of 10% from the beneficiary. The repayment period can extend up to 10 years, providing operators with a longer timeframe to manage their investment costs. Additionally, the offer includes a six-month grace period before repayments begin. The interest rate is set at 5.5% excluding taxes, according to CPA's statement.

Modernisation Drive and Next Steps for Operators

This financing offer is part of a broader government-backed push to accelerate the replacement of outdated buses and improve the quality of public transport services across Algeria. CPA is encouraging interested operators to contact dedicated branches for further information on eligibility and application procedures. Required documentation and a list of participating branches are available on the CPA website. The scheme is expected to facilitate access to new vehicles for qualifying transporters, supporting the national strategy to modernise collective transport.
