From October 10 to 12, 2026, a medical caravan brought consultations and cancer screening to three Drâa-Tafilalet communities. Organizers say medicines and prescription glasses remain in short supply.

Ferkla, near Tinjdad, was the first stop on October 10, 2026. The caravan moved to Amellagou on October 11, then finished in Tadghoust on October 12. The Arabic-language outlet Siyassi reported the itinerary.

The clinics came closer than routine care usually does for many families.

Oasis Ferkla Association for Environment and Heritage, known as AOFEP, organized the outreach with the French association Action Santé Femmes. The program offered gynecological consultations and broader women's healthcare. It also screened for breast cancer and cervical cancer. Pediatric consultations and childhood vaccinations were available, as were eye examinations with vision screening. Health-awareness activities covered prevention and early diagnosis. Patients needing specialized medical follow-up were referred to appropriate health facilities.

Nomadic families move in search of grazing land and water. Remote settlements and limited transport can make regular consultations difficult, so residents may have to travel considerable distances to reach medical facilities. After the temporary clinics close, medicines and prescription eyeglasses remain important needs for beneficiaries.

The Wilaya of Drâa-Tafilalet and Errachidia's provincial authorities backed the outreach. The Drâa-Tafilalet Regional Council also supported it. Regional and provincial health and social protection services joined the effort, along with the provincial network of health facilities, known as SREIS.

The caravan took place as wider health initiatives continued in the region. Morocco's Ministry of Health and Social Protection said its 2025-2026 Riaaya operation targets 31 provinces across eight regions, including all five provinces of Drâa-Tafilalet. Those provinces include Midelt and Ouarzazate. Tinghir and Zagora are also covered. Errachidia is the fifth. Separately, the ministry lists the launch of services at 40 urban and rural health centres. It also records two dialysis centres in the region.

Access to physical care is only one part of Morocco's health-service picture. A separate 2025 survey and interviews documented stigma around loneliness and depression in research on social isolation. The caravan's organizers called for additional support with medicines and prescription glasses. They also urged help for patients who need to continue care after the temporary clinics close.
